What
Many dancers and athletes turn to ballet for cross-training. This is because ballet is known for its core strength training, grace, and structure. Ballet can enhance a belly dancers ability to hold their center in-between isolations, move their entire body gracefully through space, and create clean lines from head to toe. For every dancer, learning more than one style of dance creates more options in movement vocabulary. Whether you are dancing in an intimate space or a large auditorium, this unique combination of styles can help with spacial awareness and presentation.
Ballet for Belly Dancers is a tailor-made class for belly dancers looking for cross training to improve their technique. The floor barre warm-up series consists of movements taken from ballet organized specifically to benefit belly dancers. The main portion of the class will focus on body alignment, posture and arm placement, arabesque, and turns. All of which will be used in combinations seamlessly transitioning in and out of hip work. Be prepared for a challenging workout that will benefit both new and seasoned dancers.
PLEASE NOTE: The warm-up does include floor work, so students are encouraged to bring a yoga/exercise mat for comfort.
